Description of Holy Names August Retreat
Father Arnold Zamora and Sister Necy planned a day of prayer, reflection and sharing to enhance collaboration between school and parish. Fr. Joe Spieler, SJ was the facilitator.
To realize this goal we planned the following activities:
Ice breaker and community singing.
Initial private time - in privacy and silence each one gets in touch with his/her life and heart. Guide question: Wht grace do I seek this year?
Sharing in small group of 3 or 4.
Mindfulness exercise followed by small group sharing.
Activity on the Cross and the Rock - Participants chose any rock that appeals. Return and sit quietly. Questions for personal reflection: What do I carry that is heavy or a burden in personal life, family, and the parish/school? Imagine the Lord Jesus is guiding. When ready, place the rock that represents the weight somewhere close to or far from the Cross of Christ. Followed by sharing experience.
Movement activity.
Prayer of Imagination on the Gospel of Matthew 20:29-34.
Guided Contemplation Mark 1:29 followed by Anointing - form groups of 4-5 people. Anointing, writing, sharing with a cup of oil in hand.
Closing activities of appreciation and gratitude.
