Description of St. Patrick Parish Advent Retreat
This four-day retreat celebrates the season of Advent, of expectation.
Each evening begins with an entrance procession of several people carrying candle, incense, the Book of the Gospels, and the night's symbol. There is an opening prayer, led by one of the retreat leaders. The psalm reflects on the evening's symbol (bread, candles, oil, and salt & water). The Gospel is read and one of the retreat leaders preaches, followed by quiet refection. The symbol for the evening is blessed and people come forward to participate in the ritual. After a closing prayer, a recessional hymn is sung by the participants.
